Who taught you how to ride a bike?
My dad!
Actually, that was one of those really great father-daughter bonding moments that I remember. I actually remember at one point riding and then realizing that he was not holding on to the back of the bike. I was really excited and for some reason I thought I'd been flying solo for only a few seconds, but when I got back to him he told me that I had been actually going solo for a few minutes.
How, this question brings up a lot of thoughts for me. My dad died when I was 21, so I only really knew him as child/young YOUNG adult. (Funny, I now look at 21 as really still being a teenager.)
I grew up the last of 7 kids, my 6 siblings being spaced closely together and I came almost 11 years after the last one. By the time I was 4, my father had retired from the military and was actually home more. This gave him a lot of time to spend with me, probably more than he could have spent with my other sisters and brothers.
I think he enjoyed being able to teach me stuff first hand like this and even though the bike lessons were a screaming success, the car lessons not so much. I wished that I had taken advantage more or what he tried to teach me, and I really hope he was proud enough of what I did learn from him. I hope after 7 kids, you can understand the follie of youth and know that young peeps don't always appreciate what they got.
I really hope.
